Thanks for sharing your journey to healthy hair with us.
I started using MM products last Friday. Holy cats, by Sunday I was ready to throw in the towel. I have been using non toxic shampoos for a several months. I figured I wouldn't have much going on for the detox. HA! My hair was a nasty matted icky mess Sunday afternoon and my scalp was so itchy I could barely stand it.
As soon as I got home I decided to try the Zen Detox. Something! Anything! Please. I mixed up the entire bag of Zen Detox that I received in the Trial/Travel kit. I applied it to the best of my inexperienced ability. I had a mess going on. Then when I rinsed it out (in the sink rather than shower) 30 minutes later, I had a rats nest of tangles. I have nearly waist length hair. I was almost panicky.
Standing in front of my bathroom mirror I spritz my hair with the Diamond Mist leave in conditioner. It took nearly 30 minutes to comb out the tangles. I pulled all of my hair back into a barret to let it dry naturally. I was not sure what the outcome was going to be.
At bedtime my hair was still quite damp. I pulled it up and put a scrunchy around it and thought to myself. Hopefully it will be ok in the morning.
Monday morning, 3:40 am. I gently pull the scrunchy from my hair. My hair is still a tiny bit damp. I'm looking in the mirror with a very critical eye and I say out loud, "what is this?" "WOW! Where did all that shine come from?" "My hair is so soft and silky?" The comb glides through my long fine, but thick hair like never before. I was blown away!
Today is day five. I have been through the rotation of the five shampoos. Today my hair is super shiny, super soft, gorgeous. I used the Sapphire Mist this morning after washing with one of the shampoos and rinsing with Apple Cider Vinegar. With wet hands I add 4 drops of the Euro Oil and distribute it on the ends of my hair. Today, day five, I'm happy with the results.
The key for me was using the Zen Detox. It must have drawn a lot of gunk out. Next time I use it, I will rinse it out in the shower. I bet I have a lot less tangles!
I just ordered the Healthy Hair Starter package. I like rotating the shampoo while I figure out which I like best. I like them all so far. I more than likely eventually buy them all in the larger size. This Package comes with the scalp massager and a bit more Zen Detox.
Yay Kari! Can't wait to read more about your hair journey!
Day 3: Going through the detox process its important to follow Anthony Morrocco's "Spokes in the Wheel" So far I have focused on Proper Brushing of my crowning glory and diet.
Using the scalp massager feels invigorating on my scalp, oh how i love head massages! Following up with the mixed Bristle Boar brush works great too. I haven't washed my hair Since Monday morning and my hair isn't oily yet. Which is surprising because before with chemical based shampoos my hair would be oily on the second day. Its interesting to know I may be able to wash my hair every 3 or 4 days opposed to 2. Brushing with the bristle boar brush has helped in spreading the oils throughout my hair so its not too oily at my roots. The goal is to brush my hair 3x daily but yesterday I forgot before I went to sleep..oops! Today I will achieve that goal though.
Tomorrow I want to try the Pine Shale shampoo since I already used the Apple Cider Vinegar on Monday. Don't forget to rotate between all 5 shampoos when new to Morrocco Method products. I can already tell Apple Cider Vinegar will be my favorite, the smell is terrific! My hair doesn't seem to be going through a detox stage yet but maybe that will change on my second wash Thursday if not Friday. I am thinking of trying the Zen Detox this weekend to see the outcome on my hair especially since i seem to not have started detoxing yet. This may change after my second wash. Its crazy not knowing how this journey will go, it has to be taken day by day.
As for diet I have been drinking 6 bottles of water a day (no soda or juices) and will try to increase that amount to 8 a day by the end of the week. No junk food! Need to not break the no junk food rule on 4th of July, luckily there is a lot of healthy dishes that can be made that tastes delicious. Next week a few of us are contemplating doing a 3 day cleanse to detox. Has anyone else tried this before?
This evening I will start incorporating exercise into my newly healthy lifestyle. My goal is to start a new activity every week, next week is yoga! Jogging daily will be the first activity I implement. Who else is starting to exercise more?
Day 3 ✔
Kari, I have just hit 2 weeks myself and it's great to hear your progress and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My detox has not been terrible, but I don't yet have the shine I am used too. I have never used gels, mousses and such so I don't feel I am having a hard time. I have tbl hair, after my lunar cut. It really helped and I probably cut 2" as I was at hip length. I am never going back to traditional shampoo and conditioner. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I agree with what you have said, and also noticed I do not need conditioner even with all the hair I have. I do get shine from the oil after it sits overnight. I will gladly make the trade! Have a great weekend!
The years of chemical products did a real damage to my hair and I wanted to turn towards natural products for a long time. Fortunately, I came across this forum and It is really inspiring that how many people are benefiting from MM products. I'm definitely going to order for myself.
