Topic: Lint stuck in between boar's bristles. Help!!

I'm having trouble getting the lint out of the brush. I have used the method you suggested in a previous thread to clean it, but it is not working. I'm not really sure how the lint got there. I have only had the brush for a few weeks. If that. Once I get it cleaned I will put it in a baggie to make sure the lint does not get near it. It is stuck to the boar's bristle and WILL NOT COME OUT! Any suggestions?? Please help it is really yucky nomicons/sad

Re: Lint stuck in between boar's bristles. Help!!

I've had lint troubles for a long time and I find the best way to get most of it out of the brush is to brush it with a second brush. If you don't have one, I'm afraid I haven't got any better suggestions, sorry! I know how difficult this is. I also have to get lint out of my combs regularly which I use a string held taut for. I'll let you know if I find any better methods, MM has inspired me to get back into BBB regularly so I'll need to keep on top of this. On another note though, I think it's my hard water that causes lint to stick to my hair so badly, I don't get the same problems when I wash with filtered water.

Hmm interesting. Lint seems to stick to brush not necessarily my hair. But once in brush of course spreads to hair. The string is a good idea. I have been using a comb to try and get the hair and lint out, but that lint doesn't want to leave! If we find some way around it we will have to post here!! nomicons/smile

Re: Lint stuck in between boar's bristles. Help!!

I realized that I can get it out easier if I don't wet the brush first, and only wet it with my fingers and cloth. If the bristles are fully wet first it seems to want more to hold onto the fuzzies!! So what I'm doing is wetting a cloth, sometimes putting MM shampoo through the bristles (I'm so cheap I'll use just the shampoo that got stuck on the cap or something like that, hahaha... other times just water) and really just trying to clean it out with the cloth, rinsing cloth repeatedly (it's one that came with a phone or game system). I used to dip it in water first which didn't work for this purpose.
I can only think it's kind of like when an animal's fur gets matted, if you wet it and then try to work it out, it's way harder than working it out dry/oiled... if that makes any sense. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway I still get fuzzies/lint stuck in my brush like crazy, for me it does come from my hair. Sometimes I can't even finish a brushing session because the brush gets too linty. So I hope it's okay to clean as often as I do, I don't have MM brush but the Bass brand one that is used in their natural brushing vid. I do lose some bristles when washing sometimes but I feel like it can't be helped for getting it clean. I just wish my hair would stop cleaning the environment, or whatever it's doing... nomicons/tongue
