Topic: burts bees

Dear Anthony,
this is a list of ingredients from burts bees day cream face moisturizur.  Does anything jump out at you as toxic?

Water, sesame seed oil, vegetable glycerin, castor oil, stearic acid (vegetable fat), kaolin, glucose (sugar), royal jelly powder, wild cherry bark extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, pollen extract, comfrey root extract, burdock root extract, birch bark extract, spearmint extract, sodium borate (natural borax), xanthan gum (natural thickener), orange oil, lemon oil, ylang ylang oil, lecithin, sucrose stearate & distearate (sugar emulsifiers), fragrance, glucose oxidase & lactoperoxidase (natural preservative).

99.02% Natural

I know it is probably not 100% natural, but I have been using the euro oil on my face and it works well, but my skin was getting dry and peely and I need something else I think.

thanks,
Kathyb.

Re: burts bees

Burts bees has gotten extreme COMMERCIAL  on the product list.

would call them up and ask direct
are these extracts NATURAL OR made in a laboratory
natural meaning direct from nature and powdered and how are they processed?
just the very fact that they say
FRAGRANCE, what does that supposed to mean?
and
natural prservative I cannot even pronounce these words?  how can they be natural?
and 99.02 Natural
what is not natural besides the fragrance and preservative.

and what are sugar emulsifiers for?
again if the word is not a natural word meaning a botanical or marine plant then its not natural ingredient.

a word to the wise
always call and confront direct
this company is so CORPORATE MINDED its quite overwhelming

more education for reading ingredient lists will always be helpful

Anthony

Re: burts bees

Ciao Antonio and kathyb!

Anthony is 100% correct! The 'Natural Ingredients Dictionary' by Aubrey Hampton is a great source re: natural vs. synthetic cosmetic ingredients. For example, it explains that "Fragrance" is a term that refers to as many as 200 different chemical synthetics, i.e., not found in nature, which can cause headaches, dizziness, vomiting, allergy, rash, cough or bronchial irritation, hyperpigmentation, skin irritation and more-- yikes! Visit www.aubrey-organics.com for details. I think the booklet is free.

Blessings and 100% natural health! nomicons/smile JMS
